Not sure if this should be in General or Wales - but !!!

My significant other has suggested - politely - that her tree is withering and Jones is her maiden name. So, I'm starting with Thomas George Jones.

He was born in Swansea in 1872. His father was named Thomas and mother Mary.

I cannot find Thomas and Mary in 1871 census - but it would appear that they had a daughter named Catherine [whose b/c I don't have] - registered 1st q. 1871 in Swansea.

1881 census - RG11/5359/48/4 - living at #10 Ebenezer St. and Thomas is a House Painter [self employed]. With him is Mary and 5 children [icluding Thomas George].

In 1891 census Thomas George is working for his father.

I found a marriage in Swansea - 1st q. 1897 - with a Margaret Elizabeth Seymour listed. This is likely correct as I have a Thomas with wife Margt. and a 10 monrh old son living at 17 Jones Terrace, Swansea. The occupation of Thomas fits and the reference is RG13/5078/15/21. I would appreciate confirmation of the name of the son as I cannot find a birth registration. I have an 'opinion' about the name, but don't to influence others.

I cannot find them after 1901.

Re your 1901 census enquiry about the baby's name:-
Without looking at the transcription I first read April, but not possible that is a girls name, on second look I read Cyril - FMP agrees!

Checked the reference on A. and it is transcribed as Janes and address is #10. Thanks for proving a point about using wild-cards.

She was and also expressed her thanks to the members here. She is once again asking the forum's assistance.

I have done some work on her great-grandparents - Daniel Jones and Annie Mainwaring - who were married 25 December 1869 ar the Ebenezer Chapel in Swansea.

    To date I have found the birth of 6 children - all sons - David John [4th q.1870], David John [4th q. 1875], Daniel George [1st q. 1877], William Mainwaring [2nd q. 1879], Thomas Frederick [6 Sept. 1881] - her grandfather - and Evan Ernest [2nd q. 1884].
These I have found in various census records and other circumstance of the lives have been developed and satisfactorily concluded.

Jumping ahead to the 1911 census, Daniel Jones is aged 62, a Shipwright and a widower. Annie died and was buried Swansea St. Luke 9 Oct. 1905. He was living at 19 Richardson Street, Swansea and with him was his married son William M. and his wife [married 1908], an 11 year old Granddaughter [Elizabeth Jane] and his unmarried Sister in Law [Charlotte Mainwaring]. It also stated on the image that he had 7 children and that 4 were still living.

The 7th child that appears to have died has eluded me. I have the deaths of 2 - David John[1873] and Daniel George [1897].

In the 1901 census and living with his parents was David John [1875] a widower and a Labourer in the Docks as well as his daughter [Elizabeth Jane].

So what happened to her Father? He seems to have dropped out of sight and with such a common name I can't afford to buy all the certificates - marriage and deaths - that a search has developed.
I cannot find a suitable outward bound passenger matching his description on Passenger Lists.

I don't need information on Elizabeth Jane Jones or on her mother - Elizabeth Jane Williams - who married David John [3rd. q. 1899] and died of complications during childbirth.

    Thanks in advance.
