Don't know if this link will help.
Thank you Genie. Yes I’ve had a quick look and nothing seems to show up.
I had a look here, only one Midleton- not yours tho'.
Thank you Wendy. I think I know where you meant. I may have enough now just to prove that he MAY have been involved somehow in the Crimean War. Not proven beyond but a definite possibility being he was on the City Of Washington around 1856. But after that...who knows? I need to find when he arrived here but if he was crew then that’s maybe impossible.
Not really sure where you are looking for (which part of Australia), so will just list this one anyway.
I found a Joseph Middleton age 22, (so born c. 1835) British, a seaman on board the ship Emma. Sailed from Liverpool and arrived Sydney on 2 February 1857.
That sounds pretty good. I’ll have a look. Wow, thank you..
Thank you. Just found him as a seaman on the Emma on Mariners and Ships in Australian Waters A definite possibility. In particular as Joseph is written on his record....Wonderful.
And a few other sightings of a Joseph Middleton with varying ages of around 30 years as crew on ships on our coast. Which is what he was supposed to have done before he settled on the land.
The one I found was in the New South Wales, Australia, Unassisted Immigrant Passenger Lists, 1826 - 1922 on A".
Was hoping he was a passenger, but looking more closely, he was part of the crew.
The passenger lists here are about the only thing to look at for free. I have a feeling he didn’t have to pay his passage. Just decided to stay after one of his voyages. What year though, I have no idea.
