Can anyone make out the very last word please?
It's a beaut- last bit appears as ….shins, but what is that doozy of a first letter?
I thought that it ended in ....aines. It also looks like a double 's' in the middle as 'fs' with the first letter being an 'M' but it makes no sense...
I think it’s an m. But after that, I have no clue. I’ve been waiting for a suggestion so I could agree or not.
(ie "Tried ... for Desertion and making away with Necessaries")
Every desertion report I've read always has a list of what was missing from the soldier's "issue" - which included clothing.
Good one Jane that would so fit.
Well done, agree.
I see "Necessaries" now too.... although, if someone comes up with another word I'll probably see that too
for example ...
Google brings up a number of results for 'making away with necessaries' in the military sense.
Nice one, Jane - I would never have got that.
Well done Jane! I too would never have got that! Thank you very much everyone.
Separate names with a comma.
