Hello. I have started a discussion in General Family History Research -> General Family History Queries but I thought I'd take a chance and post here as well as it relates to Fife. Sorry for cross-posting... I live in Sweden and have a Scottish ancestor. In 1629 John (Hans) Kinnemont (or Kinninmundt) came to Sweden. According to Swedish records (peerage list) he was born in 1608 at "Krekemia, not far from Edinburgh". Code: http://runeberg.org/anrep/2/0436.html Code: https://archive.org/stream/nobilitiesofeuro01ruviuoft/nobilitiesofeuro01ruviuoft_djvu.txt I know that the Kinnemond family was (and is?) concentrated in Fife, especially around Craighall, Ceres and Callange. I suspect Krekemia is a misinterpreted name of a place in Fife, maybe beginning in Craig-, Crew-, Creich- or possibly Kirk-. Does anyone have a clue where Krekemia is and what it is called today?
So as not to duplicate any research, please check out this thread and post any replies there. Thank you.
