Would some one with a sub be able to have a look at a members story viewable by A members please.
'Laurence Durack deeds for half an acre block of land in Bathurst NSW purchased for four pounds 15/3/1845----(word)'
I would like to know whereabouts this land was held. Also if he owned a hotel on that block at a later date. Thank you.
I know he had a pub at Meadow Flat but that seems too far out of town to be entertaining bishops and clergy after high mass.

Thanks @Sis I think I have found it. I was after Duracks Hotel in Bathurst but I have now found Kate Durack who held the licence of Duracks Family Hotel in 1877. Its nice and close to the Bathurst Cathedral so the clergy didn't have to travel too far back after getting sloshed.
Not sure if she was related to the Meadow Flat Duracks...thanks though.

I don't know how common the Durack name is in Ireland, but the family (families?) certainly made their name in Australia. Check out Patrick on Wickipedia (sp?). Queensland, NSW and Western Australia are all part and parcel of his life here. He initially came from County Clare to Queensland but then wandered all over from then until his death in Fremantle. Interesting and talented family. Don't know if he's connected to Laurence or not, but stranger things have happened.

Thank you ladies. I’m pretty much all sorted on the Durack bit.
Now sorting out some of the local watering holes, what with name changes and licence changes. Not to mention numerous pubs with identical names.
