Edward JONES was baptised in Halkyn, Flintshire on May 12th 1811. His parents, according to the Parish Register were John JONES and Elizabeth HUGHES and they were living at Coleshill, Holywell Parish. Now, I am the first to admit that my geographical knowledge of Wales is not that great and so I am after a bit of assistance with finding the marriage of John and Elizabeth. I have found a possible marriage between a John JONES (aged 27 and son of Thomas and Susannah JONES) and Elizabeth HUGHES (aged 20 and daughter of Robert and Elen(?) HUGHES) on 21st June 1806 at Nannerch, Flintshire. Could this be a contender or can anyone find a more suitable marriage, please? Many thanks,
I cannot see another contender and looking at google maps all three places are within a few miles of each other.
I'd say yes. Coleshill, I imagine would be Coleshill Street, Holywell, which is right in the centre of town. Halkyn about three to four miles outside of that on the Holywell - Mold road. Nannerch is a hamlet on the Mold-Denbigh Road, but is linked over the hills from Holywell by a minor road (which winds past the little parish church where I was married ) I've driven down it today, in fact. If you need any photographs, I'm there every weekend.
