When Isaac married in 1898 his surname was written as Lambeth (he couldn't write so the registrar filled it in) Some of the children's names when registered have Lamberth
This looks like it could be them: RG10, piece 3003, folio 44, page 26 - surname LAMBETH Henry 37 Mary 35 Matilda 11 Eliza 3 I know that the ages are out compared to other censuses, but the rest looks good. One way to check would be to find Matilda's birth and check the MMN to see if it matches that of the other children.
1861 he is a Puddler, born Tipton age 22. Wife Mary 23 born Tipton. No children. 29 RG09 2044/19 So far no luck in 1871
oooh not seen that one. When looking for a marriage for a Henry Lambert to a Mary I found one on 29 Jul 1861 in Tipton, but that would have been after the census.
As Matilda is 11 in 1871, I reckon that she is the one born in the September quarter of 1859 (6c/40) Just checked the MMN and none is listed, indicating that she is probably illegitimate. However, the only Matilda GRIFFITH(S) that I can find in Tipton in 1861 is the one whose birth was registered in the March quarter of 1861. She is aged 3 months.... Tuh!
Maybe I should get Eliza's bc to see who her mother is. Wish it was Scotlandspeople would save the wait and expense.
So might she have been :- Name: Mother's Maiden Surname: SMALL, MATILDA x HOTCHKISS Order GRO Reference: 1859 D Quarter in LUDLOW Volume 06A Page 501..seems I didn't click on this yesterday, wonder why---too far out there?
