My 3x Gt.Gt.Aunt Mary Ann Male -Clay b.1785 Bermondsey, whom I have rather neglected, thinking she was not my business?? has come back into my life lately as I delve into the lives of her children, 1st cousin x 4 removed.

1st wife of William = Eliza Elizabeth Lloyd- died 1887 Shoreditch.

Sorry Ma, can't find anything more on Sarah Louise Robinson or anything that resembles her father. Doesn't mean there isn't anything though.:)

    Thanks for looking Sis.
As she was with her G'Mother at such a young age, she may not remember-if she knew- who her parents were. Samuel the publican may have been a brother's name she remembered or a made up name. I toured many 1861 censuses for Samuel & found many but at that time none were publicans. I must look longer -further.

Her Husband's Uncle [ Chas.W. Clay] is also of interest re marriage partners & children so I may be up coming again later.

I am trying, Wendy, but struggling in so much as my keyboard has given up the ghost and I keep getting a ‘500 Whoops!’ response on FMP after I have spent the best part of five minutes entering a name. Will continue plodding on and see if I can get anywhere with Ancestry.

So Louisa Ann would be the first child
1851 census HO107/1550/161/50 - in Stepney - Anc have them as Haden
Louisa Ann is with George and Alice but then vanishes:(

No luck with any more info on Sarah Louisa though :headbang:

Thank you MollyMay, I did put Louisa Ann into the scene incase any one could link her to a Robinson. [ if it was a Robinson from 'up north' it may solve a recent connecting relationship.] :)

    Well found @Grizel

    1891 census RG12/102/40/3
Samuel (from Bedford) is a licenced messenger - I wonder if it was misheard at the marriage (licenced victualler), hence publican being entered

I think George is on the 1871 census RG10/151/22/38 -a married pot man at the Bull pub in Marylebone - born Tottingham Bedfordshire
in 1841 and 1851 he gives his pobas Harrold Bedfordshire

Wendy you have one mystery to solve though, on the 1881 census Louisa and George have 2 children marked as daughters with the surname Papineau
    George b1874, Charlotte b1871.
Charlotte is the daughter of Emma and George Papineau (married 23/11/1868 to Emma Edney)
George is Georgiana Edney b1863 no mmn given
George and Emma plus the 2 girls can be found in 1871 RG10/182/48/88
    George Papineau dies 29/1/1881
Emma Pipineau dies June qtr 1882
I cannot find a tie between Louisa or George Robinson and either George Papineau or Emma Edney
nor can I find a marriage for Louisa and George Robinson

    @Grizel ,
thank you so much Grizel. This makes my mind easier as I was wondering if another sister was perhaps taken advantage of.

@MollyMay , thank you MM. I found that chap on GRO probably b. Woburn -mn Fassey, which agrees with 1841 census BUT it doesn't compute with marriages which suggest that John Robinson married Mary Button in Woburn in Dec.Q. 1837.
I'll have many marriages to search through later, so many don't give bride's last name. All supposition here too. [having a cat sit in front of me to partly obscure vision doesn't help & when she lowers down to rest her chin on my mouse use hand, things get more awkward.]
I wonder if the two Papineau children were taken in & kept as 'daughters' after the fathers death?
I have not found a marriage for Louisa either, perhaps there wasn't one or that page was lost in the whatever. Who knows? maybe Louisa did marry & was given the wrong surname ;)

Again thank you both for staying with this & I feel sure it has answered my query. sorry this reply has dragged out, circumstances unavoidable.
