Elizabeth ANTHONY born in Holnest, Dorset in 1840 (bapt 30 Sep) married in Oct-Dec 1867 Sherborne RD to Robert Augustus BURROW (I am fairly confident in this, although she marries as Elizabeth Jane for some reason). Incidentally I cannot find her in 1861 so would be most grateful if someone could ...?

In 1871 the pair are in St Saviour Southwark, London/Surrey; they have Thomas Archibald b 1868 in Thornford, Dorset, and Amelia b 1870 Knightsbridge, London

In 1881 and 1891 they have moved to Battersea and have two more children; Alfred b 1876 Clapham, and Augustus b 1882 Battersea

Robert Augustus Burrow dies in Epsom, Surrey in Jan-Mar 1900 (he had been admitted to Banstead Asylum)

In 1901 the widowed Elizabeth is in Battersea, with her son Augustus; and boarding with them is widowed Amelia and her young family

I have failed to identify Elizabeth in 1911, or a death for her. Can anyone help?

NB: Elizabeth consistently gives a yob of 1845 until 1901 when it is 1849!

I'm in danger of overloading myself and this thread if I bring Amelia into this now, so I'll come back to her later or maybe another thread

    Could this be her death?

    I wonder....

1861 census RG09/1353/16/3 in the household of the Longman family in Barngate Street, Dorchester is a maid of all work Jane Antoney, born 1841, in Holnest (unless she had a sister Jane).

Perhaps this is where the Jane came from.

Thank you @MollyMay I have looked back over everything and I think it all ties up, her age at death is out to the same degree the 1901 was, and the only other Jane I found born in Holnest in that time-frame was a Jane Weller

Amelia Burrow (b. 1870 Knightsbridge) married Alick STRACHAN (Alexander McKissick Strachan) 23 Dec 1888 at St Philip Battersea

They had the following children: William born Sep 1887 (registered as if they were married), Adeline b 2 Mar 1889, Harry b Sep 1890, Alexander b 5 Jun 1892, Robert Augustus b 7 Mar 1899; all born in Battersea

    Alick/Alexander dies in Apr-Jun 1900

As mentioned above Amelia and family are lodging in the house of Amelia's mother in 1901, Amelia is working as a charwoman; William is working as a Shop Boy

I cannot find Amelia in 1911, although she married later that year to Ernest David Jones

William is living in the household of his bride-to-be, though he is enumerated as John, he is also marked as married (they have one child), they actually married in 1914; he is working as a Carman

Adeline I will come back to later ...

Harry is a soldier in India, he later dies in Gallipoli

Which leaves Alexander and Robert Augustus, who I think should still be with their mother (Alexander marries in 1920 to his cousin Emily Elizabeth Strachan; Robert marries in 1923). Can anyone find them in 1911?

    I have no idea of your Roberts occupation but there is this;
Robert Strachan born 1885 (x) age 26. At Horsell Surrey. Born Battersea. He is an architect and surveyor and a boarder.

    Elizabeth Burrow.Birth year 1848. Age 56. Wandsworth.
I see that Amelia marries Ernest D Jones in the Wandsworth area so maybe the attachment is Amelia's mother's death.

I hovered over the 1921 census and there is an Amelia Jones born 1869 in Dorset living in Kensington.
    Scrub that wrong person.

I hovered over the 2021 census when I realised my mistake.
Amelia was born in Knightsbridge and not Dorset as I thought.
1921 has Amelia Jones born 1868 at Knightsbridge with Ernest,James and one other. They are living in Battersea ,Wandsworth.
I believe that James was born in 1907 in Battersea.

Adeline Strachan (b 2 Mar 1889 Battersea) married Robert Hine (aka Robert George Hine; b 7 Nov 1890 Battersea, though many records have 1895) in Oct-Dec 1910

I cannot find the couple in 1911; I thought I had found Robert in St George's Hospital but the occupation of electrician wireman does not tie up with the occupation of groom given at his first son's baptism so now I am doubtful.

Robert Charles Owen Hine was born 14 Feb 1912 in the Wandsworth RD, so It is likely that Adeline should be in Battersea in 1911, but perhaps she is lost along with her mother?

Some time between RCO's baptism (3 Mar 1912 at Christ Church Battersea) and the birth of their next son Edward Alexander (21 Mar 1914) they emigrate to Canada; Brantford, Brant, Ontario.

They are back in England in 1917 in Epsom, where a third son is born. This is George William b 29 May, he is baptised in Battersea 15 Jul and his father's occupation is given as soldier in the 18th Battn Canadian Regiment. Sadley their first son dies in Epsom in Sep aged 5. A further three children are born to them back in Canada.

I've found Adeline on a couple of journeys to and from Canada and the UK, with her youngest daughter Betty. But I haven't been able to find their earlier journeys

I think he lied about his age in order to serve in WW2, he was in the Medical Corps, died in Toronto 26 Dec 1943
