I have found a married allegation for an ancestor. As it says at the beginning he appeared personally, so I presumed he has signed it at the bottom, but the first name is nothing like his actual first name. What do you think it says?
I don't know Wendy, thanks for trying. Have just found his actual marriage and he has signed it the same as above. Maybe he preferred to be called something else and that's the name he signs with????????
Well, the last letter is definately 'y' to me and when you compare the middle two letters to letters in his surname I also see auy. His actual name is Frank, but it could be anything. Hubbies Dad was known as Joe and his name was Albert!!
Here's his signature 12 years later, though not a very good specimen. Looks like ?nng or ?ang to me, which is even more confusing.
Yes, I thought I could see Frank in the second one as Jellylegs says. I think the first could be Frank as well! Terrible writing!
So do I. The top horizontal line is reminiscent of the top line of the F in the second example. At the end of the first name, where there is a loop under the last letter, that looks like a flourish of the letter k.
