I’ve not come across this before but looking for details of a marriage the Marriage Register itself reads under the 2nd column of “names of persons married” the name of spouse “Luckhurst Or Hudson”. Now I’m pretty sure it should be Hudson, but where has the name Luckhurst come from? And how did it come into the equation ? Would it just be an administrative error along the line or should I be looking for a Luckhurst connection too ? ……..nothing I have found so far gives me any reason to.
My Gran's marriage has her listed as "Goldsmith or Ottley" as her maiden name was Goldsmith but she married Arthur Ottley before my Grandad. Was "Luckhurst or Hudson" the man or the woman?
This was my worry - Luckhurst/Hudson was the woman. Yep I think you’ve cracked it ! Just found a marriage in the right area 5 years before this one (she didn’t hang around ! It was complicated in both cases by the fact “Hudson” was actually her step-father’s surname (which looks like she always used), so blindsided me a bit. Thanks
Aha! My Gran divorced her first husband in the 1920s and the divorce papers can be found on the TNA website, section J77. It might be worth having a squizz there to see if there are divorce records for your person.
Hmmm might just do that tonight thanks. Just about to start making stuffed vine leaves I may be gone some time ……..
Unfortunately the divorce would have been in the fifties and the records seem to stop in the 30’s, oh well
In my experience yes it does. Occasionally it may include a name that the person has been known by for some time say if they had been cohabiting you might see Mr Smith marrying Miss Jones or Smith

So far I haven’t found anything for her family in newspapers at all which is surprising - for my own grandfather I even found out that he failed to get a dog licence !! I may need to enlist the help of newspaper doyen @AnnB at some point.
I'm more than happy to have a rootle for you Eve. If you don't want to post the details on the open forum, PM me
Thank you Ann, I may take you up on that xx I sometimes find the BNA search engine difficult to fathom.
