The birth of Mary Ann Winter of Treorchy, Rhondda, was registered Dec Q 1909. Within the family she was known as Nan. She married George W John Dec Q 1927. The birth of son was registered Mar Q 1929, a daughter Sep 1930. The death of George W John, age 28 was registered in Mar 1931. All events registered Pontypridd.
In 1939 she was recorded as Mary Ann Jones, living at 14 Dunraven Terrace, Treorchy, together with her son and other residents named Jones.
According to family oral history at some time, possibly in later life, she had a husband/partner named Howard. She is known to have been still living in 1983.
I am looking for help to trace her marriage to Mr Jones ( if any), any clue to the identity of Howard, and record of her death, together with any additional information that might be unearthed.
    Thanks in advance.

There is a death registered in the March quarter of 1984, Pontypridd Registration District, volume 27, page 1306 of Mary Ann JONES. Her birthday was 11th November 1909, which would fit with the birth record that you have.

There is a corresponding will for a Mary Ann JONES who died 27th January 1984 and who had been living at 1 Church Street, St Cwmparc, Treorchy.

    Could this be her?

That looks interesting. Is it possible to check her date of birth against the 1939 register?

Yes, she was living at 14 Dunraven Terrace, Treorchy. Although the transcription says that she was single, the original says widowed.

There are also a son , Randall JOHN, born 22nd January 1929, and Mavis JOHN born 5th June 1930. As both are not redacted, the presumption is that they are deceased.

Bearing in mind what you posted about the 2 children, this does look like her.

There is a marriage in the December quarter of 1945 in Pontypridd RD for a Mary A JOHN to an Abraham H JONES (11a/1254).

I wonder if the H stood for Howard?

Just to confirm my understanding. Are you saying "yes" the birth dates match? If so, you have answered all my questions.

Abraham H Jones Sep 1920. Mmn Cook.
His parents and sisters at 14 Dunraven Terrace in 1939.
    Phyllis Sep 1926. Mmn Cook
    Beryl Sep 1928. Mmn Cook
    Lewis Jones/Maggie Cook. June 1916.
    All at Pontypridd

    Many thanks.
