Mary Sargeant first entered my tree as the 2nd wife of Thomas Shores [my3rd Great-grandfather] who were married 8 Sep. 1844 in St. Mary, Lambeth.
    With Thomas she had 3 daughters - Mary Jane 3rd q. 1845 Kingston [vol.4 page 204], Sarah Emily 2nd q. 1847 Wandsworth [vol.4 page 518] and Alma Elizabeth 3rd q. 1856 Wandsworth [vol.1D page 378].

I have her with Thomas [none of her children] in 1871 census [RG10/704/111/45 @ 1 Sheepcote Lane, Battersea. The son William is from the 1st marriage of Thomas.

On 5 Nov 1873 in St. Mary, Battersea Thomas Shores is buried.

Mary then married Edward Philpott 16 Aug. 1874 St. Saviour, Battersea. Edward was a 49 year old bachelor. They had no children. On 16 Sep. 1876 in Battersea, Edward Philpott is buried.

Before she married Thomas Shores Mary had an illegitimate son that she named [and baptised] as George Edward Sargeant in St. Mary, Newington on 22 Jan. 1843. I'll come back to him after we sort out Mary.

Mary indicated in 1851 census [transcribed as SHAW] that she was born in Camberwell and was age 31 [H0107/1578/59/4] and in 1861 still born Camberwell and aged 37 [RG9/37/107/13]. In 1871 she says she was born in Richmond, Middlesex and aged 46 [RG10/704/111/45]. In 1881 she says she was born in Camberwell and aged 56 [RG11/648/69/59]
When she married Thomas she named her father as James Sargeant [Carpenter] -and she was a spinster
When she married Edward she named her father as James Sargeant [Builder - deceased] and she was a widow.

    I would like to find:
1] Her birth/baptism in order to sort out her parents
    2] Her residence in 1891

There is a possibility that she died 3rd q. 1896 in St. Olave, Southwark [vol. 1D page 181]
