    There is one issue here if her age of 43 on the 1841 census is correct she would only be 13 or 14 at the time of that marriage in 1810

    Sounds mad, but at that time it wouldn't have been illegal :)

    That’s true, however it would have been unusual at that date?

    Giving the wrong age on a census was, on the other hand, commonplace.

    The census takers were instructed to give the exact ages of children but to round the ages of those older than 15 down to a lower multiple of 5. For example, a 59-year-old person would be listed as 55. Perhaps in this case, 43 rounded down from 48, so 18 or 19 at the time of her marriage?

    It's funny you should say that.
    I had this great (well I thought so at the time) idea to go through all the things I'd bookmarked online to see what I could get rid of.
    One thing led to another- now I have about four times as many as I had before....

    I too have hundreds of scrappy bits of paper. I never seem to get rid of them. As fast as I get rid of one I get two more instead! People often didn't know their true age and sometimes guessed. I have some very late baptisms and some very young ages for marriages:eek::headbang:
