A Catherine Craven died in Dudley in 1875 age 48 but if Thomas married Mary Mulroy then where did Catherine fit in.

This is why I have left him alone for 15 years, as I kept going round in ever increasing circles

I’m going through, slowly, Freebmd all the Michaels, yearly from 1855 to 1857, there are a few surnames that could be a possible fit. Coleman was one but his father was William. Condrey,Conray, Conlam etc but if he changed his name it could even be SMITH.

Have you ever discovered any military records for him which may reveal more family names?
Are any of his wedding witnesses family?

So far I have a number of possible military records that could be him but none that are more than 50% likely to be him.

To the best of my knowledge none of the witnesses to his weddings are family unless there is even more of a name change or a female relative who has married which given how little i know about is still a possibility
