Matilda STEER married Robert PALMER on 24 January 1852 at Billingshurst, Sussex.

I have them in the 1871 census (RG10/1062/49/16) in Slaugham, Sussex

Robert b. 1827 Newdigate, Surrey (Ag. Lab)
    Matilda b. 1833 Billingshurst, Sussex
Robert b. 1854 Horsham, Sussex (Ag. Lab)
    Ellen b. 1858 Nuthurst, Sussex
    Sarah b. 1860 Nuthurst, Sussex
    Elizabeth b. 1863 Nuthurst, Sussex
    Frederick b. 1865 Nuthurst, Sussex
    George b. 1868 Nuthurst, Sussex
    Edwin b. 1870 Nuthurst, Sussex

(I think Ellen and Elizabeth have been enumerated twice in 1871 - as above and also with half sister Mary Wheatland in Rusper, Horsham, Sussex - ages one year different to when listed with their parents)

I'm not sure exactly who to expect to find in 1861, as I can't find a birth registration for Ellen (1858), but would assume Robert, Matilda, Robert junior, and Sarah will be together along with Mary, Illegitimate daughter of Matilda, born 1851 in the Workhouse, Billingsworth - so not sure if she will be listed as STEER or PALMER.

Any help finding this family would be very much appreciated.

I've searched everywhere and have found nothing. Neither can I find a birth registration for Ellen. Found her baptism 31st May 1857, but no birth.

They've missed transcribing page 8. It's not there in the images either.

    Brilliant - I had tried everywhere {-(^^)-}

I wonder if I get onto FMP whether they will do something about it? I did that once before, but can't for the life of me think who it related to, so can't check.

Drat, I got all excited then :(

Thank you all - I spent most of yesterday looking for them and so did Keith (other half) whose family tree it is on. The illegitimate Mary Steer is his G.G.Grandmother.

I have sent an e-mail to FMP regarding the missing page - asking if there is any point in letting them know of errors found, as nothing has been done about my earlier query of 4 April this year :D

So glad it turned up as I spent some time looking for them last night and couldn't find. Well done @Chimp for thinking of FreeCEN ... must remember that in future! I often check FreeBMD & FreeReg but tend to overlook FreeCen.
