I have just posted a picture of these old cottages in the "Old Family-Related" album. They are said to have been in Kingston Lisle, near Uffington, but I cannot find them on Google Earth - is it possible that they have been demolished? I don't suppose there are any Berkshire specialists out there? 53-KingstonLittle1.JPG

There is a postcard that didn't sell on a well known auction site of the same picture and printed on the front it has "Kingston Lisle G.P.O. Post Office Berkshire Swindon"

The post office in Kingston Lisle is marked on the 1912 1:2500 map, which you can see on old-maps.co.uk (put www. in front). Put in coordinates 432500, 187500 and press 'Go', then switch to the 1912 map.

The post office was on the Fawler Road, opposite Kingston Lisle Farm. The building seems to have disappeared by the time of the 1970 map.

Here is another view of Kingston Lisle post office:

The building in the distance can still be seen on Google streetview.
