Refreshing my browser last night I found I was looking at a new, rather glary, font. This had followed an evening where the site was on a go-slow and it took me hours just to source and add a couple of records. Still a few blips this morning.

I'm not sure that I like the new look, or the bold titling. It's hurting my eyes a bit. I suppose I can get used to it. :sceptical:

The "new look" appeared after I had registered my DNA and I don't like it either. My "Quick Links" panel to record collections I use regularly has disappeared and I cannot find it anywhere although it still appears on the front page when I visit Ancestry on my KindleFire. The DNA panels now appear on my home page, even though they can also be accessed via the DNA tab.

Just another one of my many gripes about Ancestry, but I won't hijack this thread with them.

I hadn't explored that far, Malcolm. Actually - my Quick Links is still showing on my laptop, above my To-Do list. Perhaps yours will restore itself in due course.

    Here's hoping.

I don't use a laptop -- I'm still in the dark ages with a PC in my office where I do most of my work so I can easily update Brother's Keeper as I research. I use my KindleFire and a notebook (that's A4 hard-backed not digital) to surf in the lounge whilst trying to avoid watching the rubbish which comes on TV these days. My KindleFire is unaffected, like your laptop.

    All the best.

On the right hand side of What's Happening at Ancestry is this.
    ancestry.JPG

Click on that and you can add, among other things, My Quick Links to your home page.

Thanks. I've got that on my KindleFire and my Quick Links are already on that home page.
On my PC however, "What's happening at Ancestry" does not appear, nor does the option to customise my home page.

    All the best.

Mine looks the same, apart from having the bar across the top trying to get you to buy the DNA thing - shhhhh, secret squirrel.

No DNA banner for me, but one suggesting I buy a special subscription for my mother . Not sure the internet reaches into the afterlife, so could that be described as misselling

I agree BH! Horrid font - very blurred.
I'm grateful that it's not my eyesight!
And annoyed that they make these unwanted changes without any warning, but don't do anything about their rubbish transcriptions & "Hints".
    But ...
If I want to look at original records, I have no choice ... :(

I don't have a subscription but a number of e-mails with this "offer" have arrived over the past 2 weeks. It is certainly insensitive, if not offensive to many of us.

I get a banner telling me it seems I have undone storage or some such.-don't know how unless one of my super sleuth preventers is doing it, I don't know how to 'undo' so it will no doubt continue. It says loading may be slower but so far all okay. Not uploaded my DNA to anywhere as yet, too busy trying to find them all

Yikes - now mine has changed too (I had not looked beyond the home page yesterday).
Now I totally agree, too white, too blurry - ghastly:mad:

When I had a subscription I ran a search for a marriage on someone born in 1811. There was just one suggestion, a marriage in 1940. :headbang:

I find that very often less is more, just searching for basic information, or using wild cards will bring up a result when putting specific dates or location fails!

After reading all the above, I think I'd better check out Ancestry, I don't recall anything of note the last time I was in it.
