Welcome to Top Dog from me in Canada.

I have a very elusive 3X gt. grandmother - bapt. 2 July 1797. I believe she was possibly born in either Lavington or Market Lavington. The date was confirmed by Wiltshire FHS but the place name from the image was illegible.

Can you assist me if I start a 'conversation'?

Hello and welcome to Top Dog C|:-)

I've got some elusive Wiltshire ancestors by the name of Miell from Salisbury........

Hi - Jodi Fuller is our OPC for Salisbury - perhaps if you would contact her via the OPC site am sure she will help - there is a lot of "odd" content on the Salibru pages that may give you a lead or two

I have via another forum had dealings with Roger and as you say he is a mine of information.

He searched Market Lavingron but couldn't find anything to help, but did make some worthwhile suggestions that I followed but the trail got cold and eventually petered out.

What has been developed is that the girl baptised 2 July 1797 was likrly base born but supported by the parents of the man involved. I could say more but the family is quite well-known today and may not approve of the publicity so am reluctant to use a public forum.

Love Wiltshire. What a pity I have nobody from there (I don't think at this point in time). Welcome to Top Dog.

Ignore the above.

I have just been advised that there is an altenative that looks promising so will do some digging and if required, will post my own thread on the Wiltshire forum.
