Hi everyone

I started researching my family history a couple of months ago after my father and uncle had been working on their family history. We don't know much about my mum's side of the family and can't ask my Grandparents as they have both past. I have done a lot of research from the net and found marriage cert and birth cert and photos but with no names. we have been to the history centre for help so have managed to get a lot of information already. This has become such a great hobby/ obsession finding out so much about my family what they got up to and how they lived. I've read through some of the posts on here and read some other great stories that people have found out while researching their families.

Hello ktonthecoast and welcome to Genealogy Specialists. :)

Yes, this hobby of ours can certainly become an obsession but you will find yourself amongst like-minded people here.

Have a good old rummage round and post your questions and we will do our best to help.

Have fun! ;)

Hi Ktonthecoast, welcome aboard. C|:-)

Sounds like my quest when I started on my family history - all my grandparents had long gone, and there was no one to ask, but that makes the journey even more exciting. :)

Welcome to Top Dog Ktonthecoast C|:-)

I became interested in tracing my family tree after coming across some old photos and wanted to find out who the people were in them - from there I was totally hooked and yes it does become very addictive. ;)
Welcome to the wonderful yet frustrating world of family history.

C|:-) to you - hope you aren't too wet there at the moment. Lovely members on here with excellent sleuthing skills who cannot wait to get stuck in.

Hi Ktonthecoast C|:-)- hope you aren't too soggy down there in Dorset. This is the place to come and family history is the hobby to have, if you want grey hairs, frown lines, frustration when the little devils won't reveal themselves, laughter at some of the antics you find they got up to, sadness at other moments and generally the chance to have a good old nosey around - you are in like minded company so settle back, grab a cuppa and enjoy the ride:D

Welcome C|:-), this hobby becomes an obsession, never ;) it is just that we have the need to find out more, to seek that missing ancester and generally love anything to do with those long gone family members, who we knew nothing about until now, and now we know we have to find out everything about them and their lives - see I am not adicted :D
Good to have you here with like minded souls and hope we can help you solve your mysteries.

Thanks everyone
still raining down here but not as bad as some other places.
definitely coming across some mysteries at them moment with some people appearing on census records but not on the previous one and other people disappearing and reappearing. I do get excited when I do find something though.

Hello and welcome - look forward to trying to help with some of those mysteries of yours. Top Dog is a great place to escape the rain :)

Glad to hear you are keeping safe, Dorset is having more than its fair share of this awful weather at the moment.

Ann
