I know that it's not a good time to be asking this with the terrible fires in the district but does any forum member ever visit the Newcastle Region Library NSW, they have in their collection a one page manuscript written by George Gidley-King relating to the monumental inscriptions of Goonoo Goonoo station cemetery, My GG Grandfather Robert Aitken was working there at the time of his death in 1873 and his will was written for him and witnessed by the King brothers, the doctor’s cert was written at Tamworth so I don’t know if he was buried at Tamworth or Goonoo Goonoo, the Tamworth cemetery burial lists apparently only relate to monumental inscriptions so there’s no records of all the other burials and I’m hoping that if he was buried at Goonoo Goonoo he might be on the manuscript that the library has. The Libraries Australia ID No is 7888588 Thanks. Hugh.
I go Hugh and should be able to get there within the next two weeks. I will hopefully be able to photograph it for you. Jane
Thanks Hugh. The trip was excellent! Had a heap of fun and a lot of laughs but being on the go for six full weeks is pretty exhausting and I hate hand washing and strange beds so I'm glad I'm home. Keep safe Jane
Hi Jane, Did you get to see Hadrian's Wall? When I revisit the UK I thoroughly enjoy myself but usually in the last couple or so days I can't wait to get back home, strange beds don't worry me and I never hand wash it's washing machines or a Laundrette. Edit: Apologies Hugh for intruding, a bit of thoughtlessness on my part. Regards.
I did Findem. It was bucketing down and I wandered along it from the Steel Rigg (excuse any spelling errors) section and came back like a little drowned rat! What a spectacular section that is! Sorry Hugh!
That's allright Findem, the sun wasn't shining when we visited the wall either Jane, did you get to Gretna Green while you were in the vicinity. Hugh.
