Does anybody know if there is any access available to the actual Northamptonshire Baptisms records anywhere i.e. images of the pages.
I'm just curious as to whether there are any "extra" comments on a baptism of
    Byzantia Bowater Underwood
    Baptism date 13 Mar 1836
    Mother's name Sarah Underwood

Ancestry have the images- with Sarah's occupation being described as "single woman" but there are no comments.

yep must be - that and the myriad ways to spell Byzantha (the original form of the family name origins). I’ve been tasked with trying to find out which “Bowater” she probably belongs to……haven’t really started yet but don’t hold out much hope

Well just when I thought I’d seen it all - on the 1841 census she has been transcribed as Bujansher ! although I have to say the entry is open to being misconstrued.

On the 1861 she is transcribed as Birancher !
On the 1911 she is transcribed as Biganchia !

Got a few more censuses to go……..watch this space !

    OK here we go.............
Someone posted on here a good few years ago in relation to “my” Byzantha - “What an intriguing name, Byzantha - hopefully relatively easy to trace her!”

And so you might think…..Right buckle yourself in - its a bumpy ride !

This new mystery lady, the subject of of this post was baptised as Byzantha (transcribed as Byzantia) Bowater Underwood.

To single mother Sarah (possibly AKA Sally) Underwood

From then on she appears as/is transcribed as following:

1841 listed as Bujansher Undewood (sic)

Still looking for her in 1851

    1858 she married William Brice

    1861 listed as Birancher Brice

    1871 listed as Bernetha Briel

    1881 listed as. Bazzauche Brice

1891 listed as Betsy A Brice

    1901 listed as Bazanchia Brice

    1911 listed as. Biganchia Brice

Born in Glapthorn which is also listed as Diapthorn, and Clipston !

On her marriage certificate her father is given as Charles Underwood (made up or possibly grandad’s name)?

    But

On the 1841 census she was living with Thomas and Alice Underwood and listed as a daughter amongst another 8 children. I was thinking she was probably a grandchild but a subtantial Ancestry tree has notes saying this was her uncle ? I rather think linking her to one of my Bowaters is an impossible task.

    Thank you for listening

Thank you Burt - that Byzantha is my 3x Gt Aunt and we think that the father of the younger Byzantha would probably have been given the name as her father would have been one of the brothers of my 3x Gt Aunt, either William or my 3x Gt Grandfather John. Most probably to give extra fuel (along with Bowater as the second name) for her mother to leave people in no doubt where the errant father might be found, as they were the only Bowater family in the area at the time !!
