I found specific info for my GG in various US records, but not having any luck in the NS archives. Also, is it true that there are no birth certificates for this era? TIA

Netta May Smith, Aug. 2, 1876.
BP: Barrington or Jordan Bay.
Mercy (m) and Emery (f), also said to be born in NS, would love to find any info on them as well. I did find their marriage record!

Are you connected to a 'Tom Smith' who has posted a photo of Netta Mae's grave stone. He also has her family on Ancestry.

"Civil registration of births in Nova Scotia began in 1864, continued to 1877, then lapsed until 1908, when the province resumed record-keeping. Registrations for 1864-1877 are incomplete."
