This is what was written and the date is about 1824. I can make out some words but would be grateful for knowing what the complete label says. Nothing else to compare the writing with, sadly. Thank you.
I think it says Thomas Bache of Co.... Cousin to the late John Dade, whose son .. At age 14 died in his T B s hands .. Are bits I'm not sure about. A few more commas would make it more readable.
Born Hertfordshire played for Marylebone Cricket Club. Birth from Family Search cricket info from Wiki. It looks to me that the initials TB stand for Thomas Bache.
Thomas Bache of County ? To the last John Dade whose son ? 14...... If it is the cricketer then this could be something to do with a that. His cricket career ended in 1822. Could it be something to do with county cricket. I’m sure it says ‘son’ looks more like stat (statistic) 14
My best guess - Thomas Bache of County cousin to the late John Bache, whose son etat (Latin for aged) 14 who died in his T.B.s Home? Janet
Haven't found TB in 1841 yet, a few possibles but I can't check on this machine. However his death was registered in 1943 in Nothampton.
Thomas Bache, the cricketer, had the middle name of Ogle. From the Northampton Mercury of the 8th April 1843 On the 1st instant, at the Pomfret Arms Towcester, Thomas Ogle Bache, Esq., of Rickmansworth, Herts, aged 47. He had been hunting with Lord Southampton's hounds, and complained of being ill on his return, and about half-past one o'clock on Saturday morning he died of apoplexy. A coroner's inquest was held on the afternoon of Saturday, before R. Weston. Esq., Brackley, and the jury returned a verdict of Apoplexy.'
Thomas Ogle Bache was baptised 1 July 1795 at St Mary's Watford, son of Humphrey and Mary (nee wood) who married 8 Mar 1792. Humphrey was the Son of John Bache whose will (1786) mentions children Elizabeth, Sarah Joan and William all under 25 and sons John and Humphrey. John had a brother, also Humphrey whose will (1794) mentions all the above children except Joan. I haven't yet found any more about the younger John, whose child must have been the one who died age 14
this John seems to have married a Mary and had children Ann 1795, John 1797, Richard 1798 at Abbotts Langley. not much detail on FS and very little at Ancestry
