I've just found this in the Ipswich Journal of the 28th December 1728. I hasten to add that the lady in question is not the Mary Strawbridge I was looking for :nailbiting:
On Wednesday last Mary Strawbridge was committed to Newgate for dismembering a Gentleman who made Love to her.

I should not think she would ever have any trouble with "gentlemen" ever again.

In looking for a conclusion to the tale of Mary Strawbridge, I found the same report in the Derby Mercury. It was followed by the following article -
We hear that an Order will be issued for all the Noblemen and Gentlemen who go to Court, to appear there in full bottom Perukes after the 22nd Day of January next, to prevent the Intrusion of rude People into the illustrious Assemblies held there.
Thanks to Mary, there was one 'gentleman' who wouldn't need to find his full bottom peruke .......:D

Perhaps she got the idea from a species of Spider, forget which one but the female is likely to eat the male after mating.

Perhaps that is where the saying originated from "the quick or the dead". :D:D

Perhaps if he ‘asked permission’ he wouldn’t be walking around lacking parts. That’s if he could still walk. On ya Mary.
