I'll update as my wakefulness continues.[/QUOTE]

Well, October is here and another year almost over and in the period since starting this thread, I can say that I've had my ups and downs, and while there have been a few "ups", the "downs" have far outnumbered them.

    The "UPS"
a] To decrease the impact of alcohol, I've been cut off all beers. I have found that dealcoholized beers allows the appearance of a brewski when ever I want and is wer than acceptable cheaper.:)
b] A discussion with my Urologist seems to indicate that in spite of limited Bladder capability it should not affect the future probability of a Transplant.
c] I am getting a lot more sleep so have less time to be bored. Am usually in bed by 8.00pm, asleep by 9.00pm and with one or two breaks awaken about 7.00am. I also have a catnap of an hour or so in the afternoon.
d] A 4 hour test of my heart and lungs [because the usual tests were inclusive] have indicated no significant problems, so will be followed up every 12 months.:nailbiting:
e] Am still on the upside and looking down on the grass.:D

    The "DOWNS"
a] A week or so after my discharge from hospital I had a followup with my family doctor. I was favouring my right leg and hip area so he wanted X-Rays.These showed some irregularities in my hip area indicative of osteo-arthritis. As there was a likelihood of leg locking it was suggested that I eliminate my driving and he gave me the forms required for Handicapped Parking permit and for Handicapped Transport.
b] During Feb. Mar. and April, monthly blood workups it was noted that some areas indicated lower than acceptable 'counts' - primarily magnesium and potassium. This was likely the cause of my "Get up and Go" having "Got up and Gone". Changes in diet and the addition of supplements as noted by my Kidney Care team were implemented - but with minimal effect but the regime was still followed.
c] In June I had a fall in the apartment. I was taken to hospital for a checkup and found nothing broken, however in July the degree of pain in my hip significantly increased. In this quarter July-Sept.I also experience 2 significant problems with Bladder catheter that required visits to E.R.
d] By the early part of September I was feeling more lethargic than usual. A visit to the hospital on mid- Sept. [at the request of my Nurse/Caregiver] resulted in my admission from Sept. 14 to October 1. The diagnosis was an infection in Bowel along with an obstructed Bowel. Not a very pleasant experience.

That's about description of how the past few months have been spent

The thing which always strikes me Colin, is how you maintain your spirit and sense of humour. I take my hat off to you, and wish you all the very best for the future.

Oh dear, you've not had the best of years but here's hoping that your health improves and that you continue to find enjoyment in life and in researching your ancestors.

That 'get up & go' facility is so very fickle Colin. For a moment I thought you were at my house but you do offer a few different issues which my lad could do without.
Stay as sweet as you are, & keep the uppers as long aspossible.

Always good to hear from you, Colin. Keep up the view where the glass is half full - even if it's only near-beer. ;)
