Looking for the marriage of John NORGROVE to Catherine ?

1841 census HO107, Piece 1455, Book 6, Folio 26, Page 8
Butter Market, Knighton, Radnorshire, Wales

John, b.1791 and Catherine, b.1781, have with them their daughter and son-in-law Catherine and James Perks and 2 of their children.

When asked where born there is an 'F' for foreign next to both Catherine's

Young Catherine Norgrove had married James Perks in Knighton on 2nd December 1836.

Catherine Norgrove (John's wife) dies and is buried in Knighton on 19th December 1841. Gives her age as 65 (est. birth year 1775)

John is a widower living with his daughter and son-in-law (Catherine and John Perks)
(FMP has transcribed John's surname as Mosgrove)

Catherine Perks, the daughter of John And Catherine Norgrove on this census says she was born Antwerp, British Subject.

Catherine Perks gives her place of birth as Antwerp.

John, now 70 is still with his daughter and son-in-law.

There is a death for a John Norgrove in 1863.

How do you even start looking for the marriage?

I haven't checked the censuses, but does John NORGROVE give his place of birth as Knighton? If so, it might be worth a rummage in the Parish records for the Banns. That would then tell you which parish Catherine was from, which could be where the marriage took place if it was not Knighton.
 
I have been told he was born in Knighton, but I can't find a record. Although there is a christening of a John Norgrave in 1790. The son of John and Bridget Norgrave (nee Brown)

The earliest marriage or Banns for a John Norgrove/Norgrave is 1863.
 
It's very odd. Both Catherine and her mother were Foreign born (1841 census) and John was an Ag. Lab. It's hard to imagine why he was in Antwerp (perhaps he had been a sailor) but it certainly looks as though he married in Antwerp unless the elder Catherine came over to this country having already been married and had a daughter...but then how on earth would they have met? It's a real puzzle.
 
Well. there's lots of links to Antwerp stuff but I think it would be like looking for a needle in a haystack!o_O

if it's any consolation Chimp there are only 3 family trees on Ancestry that have John and Catherine in and none of them have found a marriage. But,
having said that one of them has interpreted the F on 1841 census for Catherine as France!!!!!o_O:rolleyes:
 
How does this sit?
My Heritage, of which I can only get glimpses of has George Perks c1840-1895.
Born to James Perks and Eleanor Catherine Norgrove. James is said to be born 1813 Kingsland, Leominster Herefordshire and Eleanor Catherine Norgrove born c1815 Paris.
 
!851 census for Lilwall, Radnorshire on Family Search has John Norgrove 27 farmers bailiff with wife Jane 25 and their daughter Eleanor C Norgrove. Also on the census is Milbro Turner 51 and John Turner 77. All born Kington, Herefordshire.........Kington....Knighton. Also the name Eleanor C(atherine) pops up again.
Kington and Knighton could be confused.
 
The original actually says Herefordshire, Kington. The John aged 27 was the sone of John and Rebecca Norgrove. A different family.
