Hi Freddierabbit Further to Huncamunca's great find is the following Central Criminal Court:Calendar of Prisoners Transcripts Forbes,Charles,77.Journalist. previous convictions:- 12 months, North London Sessions, 16 Jun,1906 (fraud) as Charles Henry Alexander Forbes. 6 months, Brighton Sessions, 22 Oct, 1907, (stealing ring), as Charles Henry Alexander Forbes. Committed from Clerkenwell,20 Apr, 1928 Bailed at court, 20 Apr 1928 Offence- Forging and uttering, knowing the same to be forged a certificate of the death of Mary Wagner; causing to be inserted in a Register of Deaths a false entry relating to the death of Mary Wagner. Tried before The Recorder, 18 May,1928 Plea - GUILTY Sentence - 9 months ( without h.l)

I have Australian family history too Joanne, 3 x by grandfather transported from India, this bad Charles grandfather. He was pardoned, but I think it sounds as though he was guilty too!
