Found a A tree which has a John Sanders Rowe father William Rowe 1816-1872 mother Harriett Augusta Piper born Cullompton Devon 1854. Not sure where all this *&$%# comes from.

    Bad News....
Rowe...On the 5th inst at his address No1 Coromandel Place Collins Street East of disease of the heart William Rowe 57 deeply lamented by his 'beloved wife' and also a large circle of friends.
    The Argus Melbourne 9/7/1872.
But this just opens up some more questions. If the wife is Harriett then her name is not mentioned and they had no children. Also cant find a death for a Harriett Rowe in Victoria that fits.
Harriett Piper is mentioned on his death registration. This isn't looking good.:(

    Did Harriett take off?
    The Argus 14/10/1852 Melbourne
'If this should meet the eye of Harriett Rowe from Brighton in Sussex wife of William Rowe, sawyer, late of South Arm, Launceston, her sister Pricilla Piper would be happy to hear from her at Mr Steers Argyle Street Geelong.

There is a Pricilla Piper being baptised in Brighton, Essex in 1811 to parents John & Mary. There is also a Harriet Augusta Piper baptised in Brighton, Essex in 1919 to the same parents.

Maybe The Harriet who married William Rowe is not the one born in Kent.

Was just laying in bed trying to remember the parents names of the Harriett and Priscilla that came up on FS last night. So all that work and Priscilla has confirmed we have the wrong one.
It still leaves the Hawkhurst one a possibility.
Back to the drawing board :reading:
To add I was certain she was the one we were chasing.
Thinking back the writing on the manifest wasn’t clear so it could have been Essex not Sussex.

Not a total waste though, we have eliminated one potential.

I’m wondering if Harriett was married to ‘Piper’ and that’s why she never married Dennis.
Could you tell us the names of Harriett’s children?

Harriett’s children were Eliza 1843, Margaret 1844, Catherine 1845 (after his mother), Marry Harriett 1847, Dennis 1849 (after his father), John 1851, Jane 1853, William James 1854, Sarah Jane 1856, Thomas John 1860 and Henry Piper 1865. I hope that this helps.

I still have a strong feeling Harriett is the daughter of Henry Piper and Ann Turl born Hawkhurst Kent in 1817. As I said earlier she is the only one of the siblings that is not accounted for. The others all have info......did you notice that Harriett and Dennis have a son Henry? Perhaps after her father.

Harriett Piper born Kent c1817 does not show up on 1841 census. Speculating that she is in Australia although I can’t find her. There are ship manifests missing between 1832 and 1837. Harriet Piper born Brighton Sussex wife of William Piper does however. I think she is the wife of the brother of the Tasmania Harriett.
