Post #16 has them living in Rankin St, Carluke when son James was born, then later poss in Market Place - both in the town centre so prob not a miners' row I'd guess. You would need to check the census details to get an address in 1901. There are various old photos of Carluke online, googling around.

 

my grandad was james collins of 202 urney street. his wife was maggie martin of argyle street. his daughter margaret sedgwick is my mum.

Wow, big hello Maggie Tate, im still trying to connect yr family to mine. Reason being, my grandad patrick collins lived with yr james collins for a bit. They could be brothers ir not xx

You may well have beenin private contact with Maggie Tate by now, but if not I think it would be worth checking the 1932 marriage cert of James Collins ( post # 69) to see if James's father's details match with those of your Patrick Collins.
