Here is an interesting one from the First World War, I assume, of Colonel Robertson (?) R.C.M. (Royal Corps of Medicine) and Staff, Government Dockyard, Basrah. It has come to me in another batch of my grandmother's belongings, so may be linked to Dora Frances Townsend and the Albums I put on last year. There are more pages of photographs of the period, with difficult-to-read labels in white on black as above.
I haven't posted recently, due to bereavement.

You could be right about the writing at the bottom, although to me it looks like R E (Royal Engineers) Marine ? Staff, could tye in with the Inland Waterways and Docks section of the RE who ran the Docks and many inland waterways in the Area around Basrah (Also no unit called Royal Corps of Medicine as far as I know...... Royal Army Medical Corps)
Colonel John ROBERTSON Royal Engineers. look up on google came up with this

You could be right, although there seem to have been quite a few colonels called Robertson. The cap badge certainly fits.
