The Welsh could be a bit more creative with their names
Monmouthshire Merlin 15th January 1842
Woohoo excellent find
Weren't they all in Merthyr?
Round of applause for Mrs. Bat. Phew.
Thank the Lord for that, Jan, I was going boss eyed looking for that
However, I have still not found a matching marriage registration....
The nearest is Crickhowell, March quarter 1842, volume 26 page 354 where there is a Thomas WILLIAMS and an Elizabeth DAVIES on the same page.
Could be a mistake, I suppose.... a several times great grandmother of mine had the vicar down as her father, which was then crossed out and the correct name entered...
....and I hate to tell you, but that Thomas Williams had a father Edward and was a widower, whilst Elizabeth was a minor with a father Richard
PS Thomas was a hairdresser
Thanks - at least it rules them out.
There is also a Maria Davies and a William Williams 26/352.
Can AnnB find them?
