Looking today for a relative & probable parents I was surprised to see some Baptisms listed as ' road side'. Yes my target was one of these.
Does this suggest that the people were homeless? I've not come upon this before.

Someone else asked about 'Roadside' and wrote to the Tower Hamlets Local History Library and Archives. Their reply can be seen here. It seems to have been another name for parts of Whitechapel Road for a few years.

There is a will for HENRY EGGERS, who left £200 to the Free School in Roadside, Whitechapel in 1806.

It is shown on this Stanford's 1862 map it's above the L in Mile End Road

Oh wow, Chimp. I didn't have the 'getupandgo' to even think of Mr Google. Dang, it's been hot'n'humid & now we have such blessed rain.

Thanks very much for that Chimp, these Brits & their weird location names, I guess they all made sense once upon a time. My chap was 4 lines down no. 24 but I didn't want to put too large an image up here.

    Nice one Mr Eggers.
