I'm putting this in Norfolk, though they wander into Suffolk

My ancestor Robert (c. 1797-18467) had a wife named Mary and the following children

    Henry, c1816-1891
    Sophia, c1823-1899
    Philip, c1824-1905
    James, c1826-1906
    George, c1828-1883
Daniel, c1832-1901, my ancestor, the only one with issue
    Elizabeth, c1834-1889
    Sarah Ann, c1836-1901

All children born in Toft Monks, Norfolk. Robert presumably held land here, he was entitled to vote there throughout the 1830s, and did so despite having moved to Gorleston in Suffolk.

I cannot confirm children's baptisms, Robert's baptism or marriage. I cannot find Toft Monks in Family Search's Norfolk records. Did Toft Monks maybe come under another parish,or have an alternative name?

i have seen in the past online trees claiming a marriage in Toft Monks in 1823 to Mary Goldspink or Goldsmith. Would love to confirm this if possible

Just for starters, I've found the image for Philip's baptism in FMP's Norfolk Baptisms Bishop's Transcripts.

Monks Toft; baptised 2nd March 1823; Philip Henry(?) (Henry may be wrong); son of Robert and Mary DOW (sic); living at Monks Toft; father's occupation - labourer.

I've found a raft of your baptisms on Ancestry>
'All Norfolk, England, Bishop and Archdeacon Transcripts of Parish Registers, 1600-1935'

I've only looked at 1 image but the baptisms are Sophia, Robert, Philip, James, George, Daniel, Elizabeth, Sarah Ann. Surname is Dow. Search for Toft Monks and then they're on pages 13 & 14 of this data set.

Not sure about this but there is a baptism of a Robert Dowe 21/11/1784 (born 20/11/1784) at Chedgrave son of James Dowe and Ann Mulley.
Chedgrave is not too far from Toft Monks.

    Ancestry source as above>

    1. Sophia daughter of Robert and Mary Dow of Toft Monks, Labourer, Baptised 11th November 1821.
1A. The 'Robert' entry is in fact MollyMay's marriage entry. There's no son of that name.
    2. James son of Robert and Mary Dow of Toft Monks, Labourer, Baptised 15th January 1826.
    3. George son of Robert and Mary Dow of Toft Monks, Labourer, Baptised 7th October 1827.
    4. Daniel son of Robert and Mary Dow of Toft Monks, Labourer, Baptised 3rd October 1830.

That's fantastic, I've long searched for a link between my family and a Dowe family one of Robert's granddaughters married into. My hypothesized link was that Robert was the son of James, but I couldn't find the baptism (although I could link the other family to James)

I've found an image for this - same database but searching under Chedgrave.

The entry for 1784 reads (slightly edited for clarity)>

Baptism: Robert, son of James Dove [sic] & Ann his wife, late Ann Mulley, Spinster, was born November 19th & baptised privately December 20th, 1784. Received into the Church.

On the next page for 1785 there is a baptism for Charlotte daughter of James Don (sic - but could be a funny w) & Ann Mulley his wife.

There is a marriage in Chedgrave 12th October 1781 between James Dove and Ann Mulley.

Having spent months & months looking at Norfolk parish registers over the years, there's a good chance Dove is the same as Dow/Dowe. It's really just a matter of looking through a few decades of registers (there are few entries for each year) and you soon get an idea of which families are which and what their real names are.

Hmmm, that baptism may or may not be correct. The James I have linked the other family to was born c1772 so not really likely to have a child in 1784. His wife was Mary Aldgate. I have children of theirs born in Woodton, Norfolk from 1805.

Also the 1841 census and the probable death I have for Robert put his birth later than 1784
(c1795), although I'm prepared for this to be inaccurate

have just seen on FS that he also had voting rights in 1840s, the latest was 1846, I believe he died the following year. He had a freehold house and land, his residence is given as Gorleston.
