born 1857 in Piddletrenthide Not to be confused with Robert from Puddletown or Joseph from Piddlehinton, there's also a Joseph Robert (who sometimes inverts his names) from Melcombe Horsey married a cousin of mine in 1895 in Sherborne, at which time he was a butler In 1901 (butler) and 1911 (valet) he is in Bath, Somerset (my cousin stayed in Sherborne) -- in 1911 he states married 20 years with two children, these are his step-children from my cousin's first marriage; in 1881 at home with his parents he was an Ag Lab I guess I would like some indication of how an Ag Lab became a Butler; is he a servant in 1891, or a batman in the Army, or maybe in another service industry like an Innkeeper? His father was a gamekeeper so perhaps the Lord/Lady of the Manor took a liking to him and made him a footman? I don't know because I cannot find him. Where is he in 1891?
Try RG12/1658/4/2 A footman b1861 (age 30) Piddletrenthide School House, Church Lane, Sherborne Edit Anc. has his yob as 1841, so age 50
Well that would explain why I didn't see him as if it wasn't bad enough with all the results for all the other Robert and Joseph Houses who were near his age
