Looking for the death of Sarah (born c. 1816, Bermondsey)

Sarah married William Wells on 20 April 1840 in Bermondsey

Searching the GRO index, I have the following births for the name of WELLS (mother's maiden name Thorneycroft - or various spelling thereof) all in Bermondsey

    William 1840
    Mary Ann 1843
    John William 1846
    Sarah 1849
    Ellen 1852
    Harriet 1855

I have William senior, Sarah and William jnr in the 1841 census in St. Mary Magdalene, Bermondsey.

    1851 (HO107/1562/117/4)
    William 32
    Sarah 34
    Mary Ann 8
    John 5
    Sarah 11 months

I believe William senior died in the workhouse on 6 July 1859 and was buried on 8 July 1859.

Looking for the rest of the family in 1861, I came across what I believe are siblings, John, Sarah and Harriet in an Industrial or Workhouse School in Epsom, Surrey.

Then I found records of John, Sarah and Harriet being admitted to the workhouse on 7 July 1859 - all orphans - along with dates of being moved to the workhouse school and then leaving. Confused at first as to how John could have left before the 1861 census, but then found that he was re-admitted (twice ) before leaving for the last time that I can find on 24 Aug 1861.

So, did Sarah die or maybe left her family to live with someone else? I can't find anything for her after 1851 :(.

Hoping with my fingers crossed that someone will find something for me

Sorry I could not find Sarah:(

I did follow Mary Ann (b1843) from her marriage in 1862 through to 1911, no sign of her mum being with her.
I could not identify, with any certainty, her in 1861 though:headbang:

Thanks for trying MollyMay. She's got me stumped.

If everything I found so far is correct, then I'm looking for a death between 1855 and 1859 - but can't find one.

I too looked between those dates, I do wonder if Wells has been mistranscribed, but there are quite a few possibilities (Walls, Wills etc)

This one sort of fits, if the surname has been mistranscribed (clutching at straws here:rolleyes:)

Hmm, have had a look and found a Wallis family in Camberwell in 1841 and 1851. Can't find the parents for definite in 1861.

Have to go out later, so will have a good look this afternoon.

I saw this one earlier but had no reason for her to be in Lewisham, only a year or two out.

There are others in various places. All depend on who gave age details at death.
