I find myself in need of assistance again, this time lookiing for a young Lady- Irene Alice Hammond b. 5 Mar. 1903 in West Ham [Walthamstow ].I found her on 1911 census with Family at Colholm, Great Yarmouth, Piece: 11103.
I later found her 1926 marriage to Alfred William BERRY [ c 1901] in Martham, Norfolk. His father same name, deceased by this time.

All lovely but I cannot discern which Alfred William Berry is the right chap at birth, nor where they both went after the marriage. I have tried all locations inc. o'seas but not too many Irenes of right birth date.
Not even found in 1939. Can anyone else please locate this pair? TIA

At same time the mother in 1911 declares 4 children all still living.
I have these, including Irene, plus on 1911 there is a 'stepson' being her son from earlier marriage. He would not so be included with her 'children of this marriage,' would he? I thought not. So sad he died in France 1915 with so many others.
I've already had the task of ditching a lass who seemed to beof this family, but not. Plus two other families also had cullings. Don't want to find anymore.

Can't find them either Wendy. I think it must be the surname Berry, as I am having a bit of a bother with that one at the moment myself

oooh looks like she was to have married before.

The supposed marriage for an Irene Alice Hammond on 6th January 1925 in Great Yarmouth to Edward Charles Boyce.

The record says " the marriage was not consummated the bridegroom being out of employment."

in 1911 her father was a 'G e rly police officer' (sic)

on this marriage (that I take didn't take place) Alice's father, Henry Edward Hammond, profession is Railway Police Sergeant.

Ooh-wah!, I didn't see that one Chimp- big Taa, Later the father is a detective.
I've never seen that as a reason for non consumation before, I gather there wasn't a -'forgotten the word' for a deletion of the marriage I gather there was a marriage if they talk about non consummation or do they refer to the non event as 'non consummation'?

Where did you find tis 'non event' please Chimp?

The term can apply to an event not having taken place, i.e. the couple did not marry. This would also be borne out with Irene marrying Alfred Berry under her maiden name. :)

I did look to see if Irene had returned to Edward Charles Boyce, but he too married in 1926 and can be found in 1939 with wife and children in Great Yarmouth.
No sign of Irene and Alfred in 1939 that I can see.
