Signatures

Thinking of those moments reminds me of a trip to the UK and the Essex Records Office. Sitting quietly at a Fiche reader I came across an ancestor I'd been looking for over the years, forgetting where I was, I let out a loud YES, fortunately all I received from staff and researchers were smiles and congrats but I felt like such a fool, mind you a very happy fool. :)
They are very understanding at the Essex RO. :D

Certainly agree with that Jan, I can't speak too highly of them, they are a great bunch of people, a credit to the ERO and I hope the Essex County Council appreciates them.

I've never come across an organisation like the ERO which has such patience with people like myself who in my early research days didn't have a clue, I believe they went beyond the call of duty to help and guide me.

We alerted a number of people to the fact we were setting Top Dog up and asked if they were interested in becoming members.

Out of interest, where did the these initial members come from, another forum I presume? I have only been here a few days but looks like you folks have made this place a great success :DWell done, congratulations, and thanks!:)

This is the friendliest such forum I have been on, and the most helpful :D

I assume signatures for all members, new and established, is not under consideration. It is kinda normal forum practice for everyone to have this option. I'm not moaning, despite what looks suspiciously like grovelling :D

Some yes, but others from other places: Family History Societies, friends with a common interest etc

As mentioned in post #2, signatures are awarded as a thankyou to members who have been particularly helpful and are suggested by Moderators or other members of the forum.

I have a birthday in the summer and so awarded some 'Birthday Honours' then :D and we do have a New Year imminent if people want to message me.... ;)
