Simeon, born in Beaminster to Joseph and Elizabeth/Betsy, bapt. 24 Nov 1825

I cannot find him in 1851, though presumably he is in Bridport as this is where he married Mary Ann Sibley in 1855

In 1861 he and Mary are in Portsea, Hampshire; in 1871 in Mile End, London

From which point on I lose him until found as a widower in 1901 in Poole Union Workhouse (quite fortuitously for me, as in the transcription he has been given the surname of the couple above him, and his name is transcribed as 'Lemon'; if someone researching the other couple hadn't been keen to disclaim him and left a correction I would never have known :D)

There is an electoral roll for 1889 which places him in Parkstone (Poole district), so I would expect him to be in that area in 1881 and 1891 ...

He died in 1909; He was a shoemaker.

Given the unusualness of Simeon I thought he would be easier, but I suppose he could be enumerated as Simon (though I have considered that), and given that 'S' is often mistaken for 'L' (I've tried for that too); and also that KEECH is often found as KEACH, KEETCH etc, and the 'K' is often mistranscribed as 'H' ... my head is spinning :headbang:

    So, I'm missing 1851, 1881 and 1891 :( -- can anyone help, please :)

Just to try to pin down a location for 1881 and 1891, I looked for Mary's death. This looks like her:
March quarter 1889, Poole registration district, volume 5a, page 188, aged 63.

This registration district covers Parkstone, which fits nicely with the entry that Janet has found in post #2 above.

I cannot find him in the 1881 census at the moment, but wife Mary's burial record at Parkstone St Peter on 2 March 1889, aged 63 years, confirms that they were indeed in Parkstone then. So where were they in 1881? Were they still in London or had they moved back to Parkstone by then.

there is a Semion Kitch in Combe St Nicholas, Somerset; Lodger aged 23 ... but ... he is a woolsorter, apparently born in Chard, Somerset [HO107/1927/345/33]

far from convinced ... but it is all I've got

Ooh! This could well be them. Although Simeon's age has been transcribed as 30 on FMP, it could well be different. Mary is with him and the place of birth for both of them is Bedminster, Dorset.

Just tacking a quick request on the end here for Simeon's sister Elizabeth, bapt. 15 Mar 1830 Beaminster

    Married William Bartlett in 1863
In 1871 they are in Burstock (where he was born), in 1881 in the neighbouring parish of Broadwinsor

1891 I cannot find them -- well, there is a William and Eliza Bartlett in Broadwinsor, but about 10 years too old and from Branscombe, Devon o_O

The most likely looking death for William is in the Beaminster RD in 1899

Indeed Elizabeth is a widow in 1901, where she is found in Broadwinsor, and still in Broadwinsor in 1911

    Try RG12, piece 166, folio 5, page 13

Elizabeth is recorded as being 56 with William as 55. However, she is noted with a birth place of Beaminster. (FMP have them recorded as BARKETT)
