6in here sofar all grandkids schools are closed much to there delight they have all been having great fun tobogganing making snowmen..........me didn't unlock front door today! looks lovely but have no sense of balance so safer indoors
It arrived here on Friday - this is our third day of snow. Managed to get up to my mother's place yesterday in daylight, and the roads were still bad - our truck is 4-wheel drive but even so, it got a bit hairy. There were abandoned vehicles along the roads, and we did see one quite nasty accident where a car had gone out of control downhill. Today brought another dollop on top of lying snow. My friend had to explain to her children yesterday why Father Christmas had cancelled their visit to a local grotto... because of snow.
The local schools are closed tomorrow so that the grounds can be cleared and made safe underfoot, ready for Tuesday.
Schools closed here too. Don't think I will risk my car on the road tomorrow either, so it'll be a day at home . I've postponed my house cleaner till Tuesday, she doesn't like cleaning while I'm at home, she says I make the place look a mess niece's who'd av em
Just once I would love to wake in the morning to snow outside. Could happen shortly....it’s perishing cold in Orange in July. Just thought...we could have Christmas in July. Christmas in July is an Ozzie thing where lots of restaurants and such celebrate in July because they can have a fire going with all the European winter trimmings that are not ideally served here in the height of summer. Not a fan of it really but just once wouldn’t hurt.
And here in lovely southern Ontario, it is bitterly cold and snowing a bit....not what you are getting in the UK from the sound of it. I hate Winter!! But you lot in Blighty have had miserable weather all year, it seems......what with rain, storms and now a blizzard. I would move to Florida for the Winter except for that jerk of a President they have. And the cost of health insurance is astronomical. My sister and husband are heading to Arizona for 3 months, sigh. She is a retired Professor......think she should finance a month for us, lol.
Oh i have to go to work today and the train companies dont need an excuse to run a rubbish service - think a trip to the coffee shop will be needed Everyone who doesntneed to go out, stay home, stay safe and stay warm
Nothing worse than soggy wet and cold people crammed into a train. Especially if it’s held up along the tracks.
Outside my front door I have 10 inches of snow. I walked to the end of our little drive to look at the main street through town, there is a single track. Looking down the side road, this hasn't been cleared at all. That is the rout I need to take to get my car out. So definitely wont be going to work today. Someone just posted on FB asking if the road to somewhere near here was clear as his wife has been stuck at her job in a care home since Saturday night. I think she will be stuck there a bit longer.
Thanks to around 4" of snow and temperatures well below zero I opted not to visit my wife yesterday as I didn't fancy my chances on a short but steep hill with a bendy stretch at the bottom. This photograph taken at the foot of the hill yesterday appeared in today's Daily Mail.
