    Does anyone know of a source for Stone Parish Registers, on CD or to download?

    I've looked on Parish Chest obviously, but Stone isn't there, unless it's been absorbed into another parish like Stafford, but Stafford isn't there, either :(

    BMSGH have Bishop's transcripts for Stone St Michael. Part 1 1668-1741 and part 2 1741-1819. Both are available as downloads.

    They're on page 5 of the list for Staffordshire.

    If the Bishop's transcripts have the records you are looking for, there are a number of articles on fulfordvillage.com. Fulford Chapel has associations with St Michael's.

    Thank you, one and all, for all your help. {-(^^)-}

    I did spend a few days in Stafford some years ago doing as much as I could with my Stone ancestors, but didn't get far enough and also realised that Staffordshire have Archives scattered all around the place - expensive if you're going via the B&B route :( and a big strain on the neck looking at all those microfilms, especially over several days. I know I shouldn't complain; in the "old" days, there were no other ways of doing it, but being old & arthritic, if my neck suffers, then I get migraines, and it seems a bit pointless to pay for a B&B just to lie in bed all day :rolleyes:

    I'm looking for ancestors from about 1750 backwards who were christened in Stone.

    Thank you for your kind offer, Belinda, and please don't apologise for not having Stone! ;) I might find the family heading towards Stoke at some point, who knows? I don't have anyone exotic in my tree, meaning from overseas (apart from Ireland when it was - dare I say it - British) but they certainly got around, and I thought they had to get permission to move parishes. I must look and see if Jan has written about that.

    Thank you, David. I see from the site that I probably shouldn't have gone to Stafford, but to Newcastle-under-Lyme, to get most of the registers of Staffordshire. And I know someone there who could have put me up - :mad: curses!
    Welcome to the forum C|:-) I hope you'll find lots of useful tips and advice here

    I have a copy on CD of English Parish Records for Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Derbyshire produced by Ancestry.com which no longer works on my Windows 7 machine. It worked OK on Windows XP. If you would like it contact me.

    Are these dates for Stone Christchurch? There seem to be earlier records, going back to the 1500s, for Stone St Michael, also on FMP. I don't know what proportion are indexed - but if they don't come up in the indexes the browsable images are there.

    If Old Stoneface is quick that FMP special offer might still be available too (£1 for a month).

    My lot - the ones I know of - were dunked at St Michael's. I hadn't thought of looking them up on fmp as I've got so cheesed off with not getting any results at all from it when it used to be so good (see #40 in my thread O'Harra in Liverpool to understand what I'm getting at :rolleyes: )

    But I will look them up; you're a genius simply for reminding me that I can.():-)
