Barney? This kid is just not there by the look of it. What about the family owning or running a bleaching field? Sounds like that if they owned a large property....or any property....there should be something.
Thank you for looking and good luck to your son

That's y I wanna look up wills n c how far back they go. Coz if they own property he would have left it to someone. If no will, eldest son inherited back then n if son wanted to, he could boot out rest of family. If property was leased, they have info at proni on this too. But this would have a hit when I checked their online catalogues. So mayb they did own their property. Will play around with a few ideas for 2weeks b4 next visit.

You are great. Now I need you to head to Scotland and dig up some Sinclairs my husband has. Just kidding....I think. I can tell you that genealogy specialists has been a life saver. I have had help in Scotland also and I have a facebook site I have called Genealogy Addicts Anonymous and I have been shouting the praises of Genealogy Specialists.
Thanks again for all of your help. I would really love to know if this story is true or just a tale

Was googling about being pressganged from this area nr rathlin island, n there r loads of stories of relatives trying to trace members who had been pressganged. Some did write back home n stated their life vastly improved. Local fisherman used to stay at home when pressgangs were about. There is a lot written about one Michael Anderson. Just thought id let u know x

Sue, looking at newspapers yesterday "Belfast weekly telegraph" and "Larne Gazette" both had sections for "missing". Year I was looking at was 1935/36. The amount of people looking for missing relatives or connections to, who had been missing from 1850+ and had thought there missing relative joined the Navy is numerous.
Another strange story, a gentleman was sued for beating his "white slave" and giving her 18 black eyes, and this happened in Belfast 1935. :(

I know it caught my attention. Looking into more at weekend. Cant find anything online. It didn't name the gentleman, but the slave was called O'Brien.

It caught my eye too, but having looked in Chambers Dictionary, it appears that said male was probably anything but a gentleman (quite apart from the 18 black eyes). Their definition of "white slave": a girl or woman held against her will, and forced into prostitution.

Oh thanks for that Arthurk, I didn't realise "white slave" would have ment this. I'm learning something new here every day.
