I remember an old series from the 70's that came on after Monty Python. I've failed to find interest in any of the newer series that have made it over here. I also don't understand all the remakes of the comic book stories that are so popular. Guess I'm in the "not a fan" club. ;)

Pardon the pun -- WHO cares -- not me. definitely not a fan. Never watched it and don't intend to.

For those who are fans, I hope you continue to watch and enjoy.

    All the best.

Haven't watched it for years - but I remember watcing the very first episode with William Hartnell - and I absolutely loved it.
I would watch it now if they had given the role to Eileen Atkins!

Old girl reporting in,...I do remember the name William Hartnell but also googled it. Too long since I watched anything much on t.v. it all happens too late form me- yawning at 7.43- matters not. Some seriously good films made in the UK. nutty as 'the Doctor in the house' series or the over the hill mob- see, 'old girl'. etc. etc. If there are Brit film on in my watching hours I will do so when I know about it, but hardly ever look ahead past dinner hour as I know I'll be here or on fb for a bit & then off to bed. Yawn.scusi.

I can remember William Hartnell & the original series, does anyone remember zcars, not sure if it was ever shown here in Aus, my brother in the 60's was their fan club secretary & was invited to the studio & met all the cast, while he was there he also met William Hartnell, he sent me a postcard, which I still have.

Z cars. My Dad was a massive fan. It was the ABC and just after we first got tv, about 1960'ish. I can remember the black police cars. Well, when I say black I'm only assuming. Black & white tv. So that's why his face is familiar.

When the USAF base at South Ruislip closed they used part of it to film the outside scenes of the later Zcars series, so when you walked past the wire fence you could see the street and the buildings all signed up for Police Station etc.
They stayed like that for years after the filming stopped and the base was gradually used for other things (now demolished).

I remember Zcars:p I was a little girl when this was on. But Dr Who scared the life out of me  I was terrified of the Daleks and that noise they made :nailbiting:
I can still hear it now. Even though I'm grown up now ( I think) :D:D:D I
Still cannot listen to that noise I have to turn it over.

This thread is making me go all nostalgic....
Saturday- Doctor Who and Juke Box Jury-but Thursday was the best -
Top of the Pops followed by The Man from Uncle
    or (even better) Adam Adamant

Don't you mean "Oi'll give it foive" My goodness that takes me right back - Thank Your Lucky Stars.

As for Z-Cars and its offshoot Softly Softly, Superintendant Charlie Barlow was played by Stratford Johns and he used to live in the same road as my grandparents in Wimbledon.

Ps: I'm now stuck with the theme tune of Z-Cars in my head !

(Please, nobody mention "The Good Life" (Sis would never forgive me).
