I have a Robert Bonner Born in 1938 in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. He is supposed to have died in Australia. I have no idea where or when. I can't find anything on him at all, is it too soon for records to appear for him do you think?
NSW is 30 years for a death to show up and I think the other states are similar but there are few other ways. Try the Ryerson Index to start but that is mostly NSW and sometimes other eastern states. Do you have a second name. There are two or three on Ryerson but ages are out a little.
Thanks very much, but no second name I'm afraid. The Bonner ancesters weren't big on second names, except for using Mother's maiden name.
I can’t even find an immigration on National Archives.....although there is one mention of a Robert Bonner, file not yet examined, held in Adelaide dated 1964 but I have no idea what it’s for. What are his parents names because there is one death in 1962 in NSW. I think the father was Edward if I recall.
Possibly this man: https://sbc.smct.org.au/deceasedsearch/result/720315 Unfortunately I am unable to find anything else for him.
In Victoria most death notices appear in the Herald Sun newspaper. They do have an online obituary search but it does not go back to 2007. The State Library of Victoria holds copies of the newspaper and also has a "Ask the librarian" service. You could try contacting them to see if they will check the death notices for you.
there is a Robert Bonner b17 9 37 single on HMS Dolphin Gosport an AB UW.3 going from England to Australia. no other details though there are still Robert Bonners mentioned in Glasgow maybe hes still got rellies there!!
there is a tree on Ancestry which has photos of him and owned by a MLouise Bonner doesn't have his death but might be worth contacting(if it isn't you!)
