Oh BD. I lost my 4-legged soulmate in 1999 & it still feels like yesterday.
Nothing can replace the unconditional love of a dog.
The one thing we can do for them is to release them from pain - but I'm glad you didn't have to.
    More Hugs!

Thank you all for your kind thoughts. Sassie was 14 and until her last day had had quality of life. She also outlived the most optimistic prognosis by nearly 2 years and was never in any pain, so I must be grateful for those extra months of love and companionship.

We have one of those tubes @Bonzo Dog with Henry our 3yr old cocker. The intention was to scatter him under his favourite bush but it has still not been the right time for that. One day maybe. Sending hugs. ():-)

We have a little urn with the ashes of a great whopping Rottweiler in the garden. The last house she was under a tree fern, now she has pride of place with the potted geraniums. I think when I depart she will go with our son to his farm. Can’t open that urn to scatter her ashes......just can’t. She’s part of the garden decoration now.

My garden is one big graveyard. In spring, clumps of crocus and daffs come up in random parts of the lawn. Right in the middle there is a small windfarm of plastic children's windmills, because Mollie-cat liked windmills.

Anymore windmills and you’ll be able to power the toaster. :)

My pud's ashes sit beside the living room fire (he always hogged it in winter!). When I go, he'll join me for another cremation.
... And if we can come back, it'll be as a combo ... can you imagine?? ...We can take over the world!! ...
