Giving plenty of time but hubby and I are going over to France for the day on Saturday 3rd February to visit my 2 x Gt. Uncles war grave as that day will be 100 years since his death. He is buried at Hargicourt cemetery which is about 40 miles from Thiepval. We are therefore going to spend the rest of the day around that area and if there are any members who have relatives buried or remembered at Thiepval then we are happy to take photos for you.

@Findem I know you wanted a picture of your gt. Uncles memorial but i cannot seem to find your message/post with the details.

Any requests just let me know

My G. Uncle was in the Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, but he is remembered at Tyne Cot cemetery. We went there a few years ago and took photos.

    Hi Liane,

    My ancestor at Thiepval is:-
James Henry Searles "Remembered with honour at Thiepval Monument Pier and Face 1c."
James Henry Searles was a private with the 9th Battalion The Devonshire Regt. Regimental #16415, died 6 Sep 1616, aged 19.

If anyone else is headed out to France sometime on the War Graves search I would appreciate any photos of my other two great uncles grave or memorials.

Frederick Searles buried in the Boulogne Eastern Cemetery and "Name recorded on the Boulogne Memorial".
Frederick Searles was a private in the 2nd Battalion The Essex Regt. Regimental #8688, he died 15 Dec 1914 aged 26, he is the brother of the above James Henry Searles.

Arthur Theobald "Remembered with honour Le Tournet Memorial on Panel 10 and 11".
Arthur was a private in the 1st Battalion The Bedfordshire Regt. Regimental #7738, he died 7 Nov 1914 aged 28. Arthur was a first cousin of James and Frederick Searles.

    Hi Liane.
That is a most generous offer and I would like to take advantage -- but ---
I have 3 who are commemorated or buried in Thiepval - 2 are on the Thiepval Memorial and 1 is buried at the Connaught Cemetery.

I can provide details of all 3 if both places fit into your schedule. Please advise by p/m or email and I'll provide as much as I have.

    Cheers

You may have already gone, Liane - if so, have a good trip over to France.

I do have a request. I'll pm you with name and details if I may.
