Thomas Sutherland McLean was born in Scotland about 1861.

In 1881 he was living in Marylebone, London, working as a 'glass painter' [ RG11 Piece 136 Folio 8 Page 9].

He married Alice Emilie Pewsey in St Pancras in November 1887. In 1891 they were living in St Pancras with 2 children [RG12 Piece 122 Folio 74 Page 52]. A 3rd child was born in 1895. Alice died in Westminster Hospital in March 1898.

In 1901 Thomas was a 'visitor' (probably a lodger in fact) at 15 Hayles Street, Southwark. He is described as a 39 year old widower working as a 'glass painter' [RG13 Piece 370 Folio 60 Page 3]. In 1911 he'd moved a few streets away and was living by himself in Cavour Street, West Newington (Walworth), Southwark. Again no children are with him but we now know he painted stained glass [RG14 PN1852 RG78 PN65 RD23 SD5 ED34 SN518].

I don't need to know anything about Thomas McLean's ancestry, just what happened to his children. All I've found so far is>

    1. Margaret Emilie McLean born 1888 in Pancras Registration District.

    2. Thomas John McLean born 1890 in Pancras Registration District. I think I've found him in the 1911 Census as a private in the Sherwood Foresters based at Normanton Barracks, Derby. He gives his birth place as Tottenham, Middlesex, which appears to be wrong but gives a clue as to where his younger sister was born.

3 Edith Ellen McLean was born in 1895 in Edmonton RD (which includes Tottenham). Interestingly she was baptised at All Saints, Walworth, on 16th August 1898. Her father was living at 27 Dante Road, Southwark which is close by Hayles Street where he was living in 1901. Edith married Sydney Edward French in Eltham in south east London (Kent) in April 1920 .

That's all I know (or think I know!). Can anyone fill in the gaps e.g. where they were in 1901 and 1911 and marriages where not known?

That's spot on - and doubly so because Edith is further down the same page! (born Tottenham). Thank you Sandiep :).

Possibility for Margaret MACLEAN working as a Kitchen Maid at the Kingsley Hotel, Hart Street, Bloomsbury, in the 1911 census of St Giles Bloomsbury. She is shown as aged 22 and born Kings Cross.

Oh that's a good find MollyMay. I'm fairly certain that the pob is Harringay which of course is close to Tottenham. She's also working in the right part of the world for her 1920 marriage in Eltham. I'll definitely take that as being her. Thank you:).
