I have found Thomas and Sarah on the 1841 Census and 1851 Census. Cannot locate either of them on the 1861 census. Possibly they both died between 1851 and 1861??? however I can't find any death dates.
In the 1851 census Sarah has been incorrectly named as Martha
The 1851 census detail is (they were living in Wheatley, Oxfordshire).

    HO 202 piece 1727, Folio 56 page 47.

    Thanks

Have you an age for Thomas Gomm and did he and Sarah have children?
Also how sure are you that Martha is actually Sarah?
I wont say anything yet until I hear back....I have a suspicion.;)

Golly gosh I cant wait....Thomas son's Thomas and George were both transported to Tasmania. Thomas on the Lord Lyndoch in 1840 and George, I'm not sure as yet. When Thomas snr was around 81 years of age he arrived on the Copenhagen in October 1859. Likely the fare was paid by one of the sons.
All three, Thomas Snr, Thomas Jnr and George left Tasmania and went to Collingwood in Victoria. The boys had conditional pardons that allowed them to do that as long as they stayed away from England. All three are buried in Collingwood.
This I found on 'Friends of Cheltenham & Regional Cemetries Newsletter after I googled 'Thomas Gomm + Wheatley'.
Their story is told in the newsletter. I will send the link to you as a message.

I apologise. George was not a convict but quite respectable and it is he who probably paid for his father to emigrate.
And its Cheltenham Pioneer Cemetery not Collingwood. I was too excited to read through properly

Victorian BDM has George died 1860, Thomas 1866 and Thomas 1871. Not sure who is who but the only burial I can find is Thomas 9/1/1866 at St Kilda Cemetery which is part of the Pioneer Cemeteries Trust.
