    Another skeleton has emerged!! His entries in the London Electoral Registers show him living with his wife in Islington until 1935. In 1936 he was living at the address given on his CWGC certificate, but with someone else. He was never divorced as his wife, who died in Birmingham in 1939, left her estate to 2 of her step-brother's sons, and her Wills and Probate register entry names her as the wife of ****.

    Why he was in Birmingham in 1941 is still a puzzle, but at least I do now know why my grandmother was always tight lipped about him.
