The above couple operated an Inn at Eype, Dorset according to the 1911 census. They were also in Eype in 1901.
It looks to me like Walter operated Inn's since about 1881 when he may have taken over an Inn operated by a relative - Richard Gape - who was enumerated in 1881 as a retired Inn Keeper. This was also in Eype.
    The census records:
    1881 - RG11/2125/9/12
    1891 - RG12/1665/7/8
    1901 - RG13/2014/5/30

They died within the month of November 1915 - Walter on the 2nd and Adelaide on the 26th. I believe they are buried in St. Peter Churchyard where there is a large commemorative headstone.

Probate of Adelaide's will was proven to Walter John[Licensed Victualler] and William [Coal Merchant] Gape sons of the deceased. Her estate was a little over 436pounds.

Looking on wiki I found Eype. It is a small village near Bridport. There is an Inn named The New Inn which is listed as the residence or Walter and Adelaide in 1891, so I presume that this is the name of the Inn that he was operating in 1911. According to wiki this Inn is operated by Palmer's Brewery. According to wiki their pubs are tenanted. Has anyone had dealings with this company with regard to obtaining information on pub tenants?

Walter John Gape who was joint administrator died on 7 November 1931. His residence was The London Inn, West Road, Symondsbury. This pub no longer exists and is apparently now a private dwelling. I found that Walter John was operating this place as of 1911 but would like to know whether or not the tenancy [if such was the case] passed on to his widow Mary? I would also appreciate finding out the history of this pub after the Gape's had it and up to its' closure.

    Thanks for any help

According to pubhistory dot com the last was Walter Gape in 1915. Nothing showing up on that site after that.
Have you the list of licencees?

On behalf of Walter Gape, of the New Inn, Eype, Symondsbury, Mr. Nantes, of Bridport, made application for the confirmation of a beer and spirit license for the above-named house. It was elicited that on a former occasion when the license was applied for some opposition was experienced, and the license was refused ; but, a change In the tenancy having been effected, coupled with a respectably signed memorial in its favour, the license was now confirmed.

The license was granted on the previous Saturday (5th October 1878)

Now called Post Box House as there is a post box out the front and closed as The London Inn about 1993

And I am obliged to all and sundry - thank you very much. I am sure there's plenty there to 'wet my thirst'.
